A gigantic frozen lipstick, a male/female symbol, is revealed. The Icelandic Love Corporation: Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir, Dóra Ísleifsdóttir, Jóní Jónsdóttir and Eirún Sigurðardóttir, defrosted it in a performance at The Living Art Museum, Reykjavík. ON Iceland Festival 1997.
That is a detailed and difficult task. This task requires certain equipment and the courage of a housewife or a surgeon. The job is done with strong, secure, and gentle maneuvers. Using blow dryers and some safety equipment, the mission is accomplished.
Blow Job was also performed at Gekko Festival, at Munchenbryggeriet in Stockholm in 1998 and at Kunsthaus Bregenz, as part of the exhibition LKW Lebenskunstwerke, Kunst in der Stadt 4, curated by Paolo Bianchi.
In 2009 the international feminist art journal N.Paradoxa published images from the performance in Bregenz along with the following poem:
THE MAGICAL DEFROSTING OF A MARVELOUS TREASURE
on top
of this long legged table
is a thick frozen iceblock.
The sound of steel heels
touching shiny marble floors
is echoing
through the skincolored rooms.
You will enjoy this blow job
with your eyes, ears, nose and all
it will be a joy job.
still, it will
take an effort, and
approximately 25 minutes.
the wonderful warm heated wind
will help.
our shoes are good
for breaking the ice.
the rubber gloves and safety glasses
are necessery & nice.
If somebody gets tired
or maybe dreamy or unpatient
the luxurious wine and berries
will always love you
all this
will make us and it free
it is what's inside that matters
we will reveal
the unifying symbol
thank you every body.
Thank you pioneers.
